Ally Walsh: Q&A

One part of the dynamic duo behind the artisanal coffee brand, Canyon Coffee, Ally Walsh is both beauty and brains. A model by trade Ally and her boyfriend Casey launched the inspired Canyon Coffee late last year and it has fast become the go-to brew for L.A's most discerning coffee drinkers. Using only organic coffee beans and always paying fair trade prices, this is one cup of joe that you can feel good about!
Lets get to know this caffeinated maven with a quick Q&A.
I usually wake up at: Around 630-7am….or when Casey starts making coffee ;)
I always start my morning with: Water and a 20 minute Meditation
My go-to breakfast is: All I ever want is toast with almond butter.
My morning beverage: One cup of black coffee
I take these supplements: Ashwaganda and magnesium at night for sleep! And I really like Moon Juice’s probiotics.
I love a bath or shower: Bath! Anytime of the day
My favorite form of exercise: Yoga & walking on the beach
My favorite daily ritual: I love making coffee in the morning. It’s a ritual that I look forward to. I wake up, fill the kettle, and set it to boil while I go & brush my teeth. Then I grind the beans (2 V60 scoops!) and set up the pour over. Once the water’s around 200° F, I get all the grinds wet, let it bloom for 30 seconds, then slowly fill it up. I really love when I get up extra early to make coffee and sit and read or write before 8 am.
My most recent health/wellness find: Adding Sunpotion tocos to coffee! It adds a creamy consistency similar to milk… but it’s really good for your skin with all its vitamins (Vitamin E, Vitamin B6, Vitamin D, and more!).
For dinner I usually eat: Lately it’s been a lot of lentil stews with coconut milk, sweet potatoes, and any other vegetables we have from the market that week. Other than that, we always eat lots of vegetables cooked in different ways. Roasted cauliflower, kabocha squash, kimchi, sautéed rainbow chard with coconut oil, lots of garlic and onion, and salmon a couple times a week.
My guilty pleasure: Chips & wine.. but I don’t feel too guilty ;)
My playlist includes: Amanda Bergman. Her new album Docks I have had on repeat for months now. And always Fleetwood Mac and Paul Simon!
My favorite way to relax: Hot bath with coconut oil and Bodha incense, or making a trip downtown to a Korean Spa. Nothing beats laying on those pink Himalayan salt rocks.
My perfect day I would: Start my day with Canyon Coffee, Walk to the beach, jump in the ocean, read and relax in the sun, walk to Gjusta for lunch, go on a hike or to a Yoga class, hang with friends on the porch with wine and the sunset and all make dinner together at home
I am inspired by: Women entrepreneurs, leaders and activists. Art, that gives me new perspective. My mom for her strength.
I recently discovered: Cafe gratitudes spicy probiotic kimchi! I can go through jars of this.
The best advice I have received: Work smarter not harder.
I go to bed at: 10ish… or falling asleep to a movie.
